On November 23, 2024, Noble Academy hosted an inspiring seminar titled “What Does It Mean to Be Gifted?” in collaboration with the Gifted Community Jakarta and Indonesia Peduli Anak Gifted (IPAG). Held at the Galilee Center in Jakarta, the event brought together educators, parents, and students to explore and understand giftedness
The event was set into motion with a poignant video, establishing a reflective tone for the day. This was seamlessly followed by Ibu Yeni Shahnaz, whose evocative poem beautifully captured the spirit of the event, effectively transitioning into the day’s central theme of exploring giftedness.
Dr. Julia Maria Van Tiel, a distinguished expert in gifted education and public health, led the seminar titled “What Does it Mean to be Gifted?” Her comprehensive presentation delved into the complexities and implications of giftedness, thoroughly addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by gifted individuals. The seminar was notably interactive, with an extensive Q&A session that allowed the audience to directly engage with the expert, significantly deepening their understanding of the topic and fostering an environment of active learning and dialogue.
After the insightful seminar, attendees enjoyed a lunch break, providing a perfect opportunity for informal networking and contemplation of the morning’s discussions. This interlude was enhanced by a captivating musical performance by Bach, a Vietnamese guitarist raised in Indonesia, whose mastery of the guitar added an artistic flair to the educational content of the day.
The afternoon session featured a dynamic talk show with Ms. Rhea Arella and Ms. Nancy Dinar discussing Ms. Dinar’s latest book, “Apakah Saya Juga Gifted?”. The discussion delved into strategies for recognizing and nurturing gifted children and offered practical advice for parents and educators. This session illuminated various facets of gifted education, drawing from Ms. Nancy’s extensive research and insights, which greatly enriched the audience’s understanding of supporting exceptional potentials in young learners.
The talk show featured a creative and humorous skit that included singing performances, cleverly highlighting the diverse talents of the participants. This engaging skit brought a lighthearted and entertaining vibe to the seminar, perfectly balancing deeper insights with moments of laughter and enjoyment.
